The lady who is bathing

The cloth wrap around your chest suits you

Matsüngzükla of Chungliyimti

You should do it like the flow of a river/water/stream.

Contextual Interpretation

This song is about a tree complimenting a girl named ‘Matsüngzükla’, while she was bathing by a pond. This song traces back to the time when all the folks/tribe were residing in the ‘Tsüngliyimti’ village. While she was bathing, one of the tree behind her complimented how the cloth that was wrapped around on her chest beautifully suits her. The tree calls out her name saying ‘Tsüngliyimti lar Matsüngzükla’ from/of Chungliyimti’, you should do it like the water that is flowing through. Upon hearing that she turned back to see only to find out that it was just a tree. It was an ‘Aam tree’ which is rarely found in the forest. Terrified, she goes back to her home and tells her mother about the incident. Her mother, after hearing the story, claims that such a talking tree would even eat up a person, as during those days/times it was believed to be a human eater. So the mother goes to the village folks and narrates the incident. The villagers then decided to chop down the tree for the safety of the villagers. Upon chopping down the tree, the leaves from the tree released all the languages. While falling onto the ground, it sent an echoing ‘Oh’ sound to the Ao hills, that is why it is said that the Aos speak the language that had came across the Ao hills and also while singing the song, the Aos start with the chanting sound ‘Oh’.
